Privacy Policy

PeerScience Privacy Policy · Last updated: 2 October 2026

Who we are. PeerScience is currently in a test phase and is run by its founding team as a private, non-commercial project. Contact: contact@peerscience.io. When a company is established to operate PeerScience, we will update this policy, transfer the platform, including accounts and published content, to that company, and notify registered users.

What we collect and why.

  • Account data — name, email, affiliation, password (stored hashed): to run your account and attribute your work.
  • Reviewer applications — fields of expertise and links to your publications: to verify reviewers.
  • Manuscripts, supplementary material, reviews and comments: to run peer review and publish articles.
  • Technical data — IP address and logs: to keep the platform secure.

What becomes public. Your name and affiliation on published articles and your profile. After an article is published, the names of its reviewers and their full reports. Published content stays public permanently as part of the scientific record and may be copied by others under CC BY 4.0. The email address of the corresponding author is shown on each published article. All other email addresses are never shown publicly or to other users; users can contact each other only through the platform.

What stays private. Unpublished manuscripts are visible only to their authors, the assigned reviewers (without author names) and the administrator.

Who else sees your data. Only the service providers that run the platform: Hetzner (servers in Finland, file storage in Germany), Resend (sending platform emails) and Google Workspace (our support mailboxes). Some of these providers are based in the United States, so your data may be processed there. We do not sell personal data and do not use it for advertising.

How long we keep it. Account data — while your account exists. Published content — permanently. Unpublished submissions — until you delete them.

Your rights. You can ask us to access, correct or delete your data, or delete your account: support@peerscience.io. Deleting your account does not remove your name from already published articles and reviews, but we will consider every request individually.

Cookies. We use only the cookies needed to log you in and keep the site working.
